From national camouflage modernization to specialized environmental adaptations, A-TACS Camo engineers custom concealment systems for military organizations and agencies worldwide, developed in our Design Lab in Fort Benning, Georgia.

The A-TACS Camo Design Lab is where research, environmental analysis, digital engineering, and field experience converge. In addition to engineering our already effective concealment systems, we engage in the creation of customized camouflage pattern solutions for a wide variety of clientele, including various worldwide, military organizations, as well as manufacturers creating gear and wanting their own unique look. Functionality and performance is the objective — visual appearance is the outcome of engineering decisions driven by concealment performance.
We conduct on-site observation of the target terrain, vegetation structure, and lighting conditions before a single color is chosen. We document how the environment actually behaves across the day and across seasons, how it looks under variable conditions. This groundwork ensures every pattern we build is grounded in the real operating environment.
We collect extensive photographic and spectral data across seasonal cycles and operating conditions, capturing how terrain color and texture shift from wet to dry, green to brown, and daylight to dusk. That data becomes the raw material for everything that follows.
We build our color data and relationships by sampling colors directly from environmental elements. We document. We catalogue. Each colorway is tested against the way the human eye and optical sensors actually process contrast and depth in that terrain. The resulting palette behaves correctly and color shifts as it is supposed to in its intended operational terrain.
This is where our signature "patterns within patterns" approach takes shape. Macro geometry breaks up the outline at distance, while micro geometry defeats detection up close — and both are engineered to work together across the full range of viewing distances an operator will actually encounter. It's the core innovation that has defined A-TACS for nearly twenty years.
Validated research is translated into precise, production-ready digital artwork, built to exacting print and registration tolerances. Every element is engineered for consistency across print runs, fabric types, and manufacturing partners worldwide. This is the step that turns science into a reproducible, licensable product.
The finished pattern is applied across real fabrics, webbing, trim, and hardware to confirm it holds up in physical production, not just on screen. We evaluate colorfastness, print registration, and visual continuity across every material category a finished product might use. Any inconsistency is caught and corrected before the pattern ever reaches the field.
Prototypes are tested under real terrain, weather, and seasonal conditions — not simulated environments — alongside the operators who will actually use them. Feedback from that testing is fed back into the pattern and the production process before final sign-off. Only after this final validation does a pattern move into full-scale manufacturing.

A-TACS Camo now has the ability to partner with military organizations the world over and develop pattern-specific solutions geared towards any specific AO. Our team will engineer a purpose-built concealment system designed specifically to perform within the terrain climate, and adapt as necessary to specific operational requirements.
Camouflage modernization and branch-specific programs, including special operations and border security requirements. We can engineer a custom concealment system that belongs to your nation alone, built from colors sampled directly from your own terrain and tuned to the environments your forces actually operate in, giving your military a distinct identity without sacrificing performance.
Infrared reflectance and thermal signature management can be engineered directly into virtually any camouflage pattern redesign. As drone-based surveillance and targeting become central to modern warfare, defeating IR and thermal detection is no longer optional — it's mission-critical.
Colorway development, camouflage refresh initiatives, and specialized environmental adaptations built around your mission. Whether you need a new colorway for an existing A-TACS pattern, a performance refresh of a legacy pattern, or an entirely new concealment system, every project follows the same research-driven process used in our Design Lab. Each pattern is field validated before it is released for production.
OEM manufacturing integration with full technical documentation and long-term production support. We work directly with your chosen mills, printers, and manufacturers to transfer color standards, print specifications, and quality benchmarks, so the pattern performs the same on every production run. Our team stays engaged for the life of the program, from first prototype through reorders years down the line.

"Many government development programs require strict confidentiality. A-TACS maintains disciplined project management practices and respects the sensitivity of every customer's information and operational requirements."
— Phil Duke, Founder & Designer, A-TACS CamoWhether you're modernizing a national camouflage program, sourcing authentic materials, or licensing a pattern for your next product line — our team is ready.
